After years of smoking hashish, whenever I can, and after declaring my undying love for the stuff, I think I might actually be going off it. And as I’ve said as I can get some very nice stuff.
Why ever would this be? I hear 2 people ask.
As you can see from the picture above, some very nice weed has arrived in my life. A seemingly endless supply. And not just any weed. Weed grown outside in the sun, in Spain. A definite sativa high. I have just been learning about the whole sativa/indica thing a bit more. I think it’s important to know about if you smoke it. They’re not sure whether to call them separate species, but refer to them as ‘lines’. They sure as hell have a very different effects when smoked, that is without doubt.
There’s a good article about it on High Times, with some good comments. Some very strange ones too. I wrote an article ages ago that Rollo made a comment on which I wholeheartedly agree with:
The best weed is grown outdoors in Nature’s sun and rain, makes you feel happy, giggly, energised sometimes too before you ultimately raid the fridge. Bad weed (such as Skunk) is grown indoors in artificial light, largely in Holland and tends to make you feel either paranoid or paralysed or both. No real contest. In any case it’s much better as an occasional ‘vice’ rather than something habitual.
The nasty skunk weed that turns your brain to mush, and is good for pain relief has a high indica percentage. These types of plant have traditionally been used to make hashish. The pain relief from these indica ‘lines’ of plants is what is sought by medical marijuana patients. I do admit to enjoying the indica high in the past, and I am sure I will again, but there’s no place for it in my life really. It’s too disabling. Now and again though .. when you want to escape. Maybe that’s the trouble with that stuff.
The sativa high is much more a mental one, with no heaviness in the body. It’s much more ‘up’. Inspiration. Giggles. Thought. A bit like the way hash is ‘down’. You can operate heavy machinery whilst on sativa, mostly (and definitely drive a car). Not that I’m recommending you do that.
So yes despite having access to some of this marvellous moroccan hash, I am finding myself much more inclined to smoke lovely local weed. It’s like nothing I’ve had before. It’s also very cheap and comes direct to my door at the drop of a hat. Things could be worse.
Do you know if you prefer Sativa or Indica? Do you care? I don’t think most weed dealers have the first clue (in the UK, at least.)
